How To Make Your Own Scrapbook Idea Books

Whether a beginner or seasoned scrapbooker, we all love to draw new inspiration from magazines, idea books, and (of course) DIY! Like me, you may have toppling piles of Creating Keepsakes and Scrap & Stamp Arts (just to name a couple!) overtaking your closet, yet every time you see a great new idea book you still gotta have it! Right? Well, if you want to learn how to quickly and easily clear your clutter and create a great inspirational idea book for yourself, read on!

Idea books are certainly not in short supply these days. It seems there are idea books for just about every scrapbook topic you can think of...and then some! I've seen idea books for layouts, sketches, journaling, altered scrapbooking, mini albums, tear art, paper piecing, vellum tricks, tag art, chalk art, stencil art, punch art, mosaics, and more. Who has the money or space for all these idea books?

Another problem occurs when I remember a layout or technique that I'd like to try that I had seen in one of my magazines or books. "I know its here somewhere...probably dog eared the page so that I could find it easily" I remind myself. Easily? There's certainly nothing easy about searching thru piles of magazines and books for that one page that you probably won't ever find again. That's just frustration!

But don't despair...I've found a remedy for our inspiration/frustration dilemma! You can make your own idea book. It's easier than you might think.

All you need is a three-ring binder and some dividers. Now, go thru your old magazines and tear out pages that have unique layouts, techniques, or anything else that inspires you. Yikes! Tearing out pages from our precious magazines? I know...I was a bit reluctant myself, but it's a great way to clear your clutter and get organized. Save anything that gives you inspiration: color combinations, photo and graphic styles, layering patterns, title ideas, etc. Once you've torn out all the pages you care to keep, you can toss the rest of the magazine in the trash. Just keep repeating this process until you have cleared your magazine towers and replaced them with a nice tidy stack of pages instead.

Simply hole punch the pages and organize them in your binder, using the dividers to create different categories such as layout ideas, techniques, etc. You may even decide to create special sections such as holiday ideas. There is no wrong way to do this. Organize it however you'd like, in a way that works best for you. You may even choose to "alter" your binder by adding decorative papers and ribbons to dress it up a bit.

Now you've got your own personal, portable idea book! And the best part is that everything in this book gives you great inspiration...not just a few pages here and there. Keep adding to your idea book whenever you find new pages in magazines or even while surfing the web. The next time you need an idea, you'll know exactly where to look! And it won't take hours of searching to find what you need.

I'm not saying not to ever buy another idea book...but at least NOW you'll have extra room for them where the magazine towers used to be! LOL

Happy Scrapping!

Customer Review: Amazing Price Amazing Show

I have had no problems with disk quality like some other people my set is flawless and at 50% off this is an amazing deal to get all 10 seasons, the show itself is amazing I have been a fan for years and this is the best sci fi series ever I recommend this set to anyone who is a fan of sci fi you won't regret it.

Customer Review: Check your discs

I would definately suggest checking your discs. Most of the discs in my collection were good but I ended up getting to season 10 disc 4 and when I ran the disc it showed up as season 7 disc 1. So there are some issues with the quality checks.

See your little one develop important early learning skills while happilyinteracting with Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh and other Disney friends. Children fundamental learning skills while fueling their creativity and imagination. Includes The Book of Pooh a Story without a Tail CD-ROM.

Customer Review: Seems like a good game

I bought this game at the same time that I bought the JumpStart Toddler game. My son will be 2 in a few months and I thought that he would enjoy the Disney characters. I think that when he gets a little older and his computer skills get a little better he will enjoy these games much more. The only one that we have tried is the Mickey Mouse one. My son got bored fairliy quickly because he needed much more help than he needs with the Jumpstart game. I think that this game would be better for older toddlers.

Customer Review: Fantastic, my first choice as a gift

This is a fantastic set! The favorite disc of the three is "The Book of Pooh," although the Mickey Mouse one is a close second. The activities are really fun, with great graphics and classic pooh-character humor and scripts. It was my daughter's first software at three, and now as a first grader she still loves it. My three-year-old son was able to teach himself the games and how to navigate the menus. He plays with it without needing any help. We loved it so much we give it to friends with toddlers, and when one of our discs was broken, we bought the whole set of three again.

The Other Boleyn Girl

The Other Boleyn Girl
"Two sisters competing for the greatest prize: the love of a king When Mary Boleyn comes to court as an innocent girl of fourteen, she catches the eye of Henry VIII. Dazzled by the king, Mary falls in love with both her golden prince and her growing role as unofficial queen. However, she soon realizes just how much she is a pawn in her family's ambitious plots as the king's interest begins to wane and she is forced to step aside for her best friend and rival: her sister, Anne. Then Mary knows that she must defy her family and her king, and take her fate into her own hands. A rich and compelling tale of love, sex, ambition, and intrigue, The Other Boleyn Girl introduces a woman of extraordinary determination and desire who lived at the heart of the most exciting and glamorous court in Europe and survived by following her own heart. Customer Review: fascinating book

This was a terrific book! It grips you in the first chapter and doesn't let go! I am not a person who is all that much into reading period pieces but this was just an intriguing story that was well written.

I really enjoyed this book alot. Warning: this book will consume you! I found myself up reading until 2 am on many nights without even realizing it...

Customer Review: Tudor Harlequin Romance

I did not begin reading this novel expecting anything other than an easy weekend read, but was more disappointed than I could have imagined. An educated reader knows that in historical fiction, real characters are blended with fictional ones, and events are created or recreated to advance the plot. If the plot and writing are good, then the reader may suspend the facts momentarily for the sake of the work. In this novel, however, the historical inaccuracy and writing are so far-fetched as to cause the reader to pause frequently, thus interrupting the flow of the story.

If the book is about Mary (older sister, younger sister - historians in dispute), we are not given a very accurate picture of her true nature. There are established facts about Mary, such as that she was considered loose and had affairs with several men (including King Francis I of France, who called her "a great whore, the most infamous of all") which led to her dismissal from the French court. She was not the simpering dolt portrayed in the book.

The other interuption for me was the language. In places the dialogue represented the crisp, well-versed language one would expect of courtiers, while in others I felt like I was overhearing 21st century teenagers at the mall. One pet peeve of mine is the overuse of a word or phrase throughout a work. I feel that the writer simply could not bother to think of other descriptors or was unable to. For example, Gregory uses the word 'sulk' (not a bad word if used a time or two) and every other variant of the verb...'sulky' (adj - not very good word choice), and the worst...'sulkily' (adv. - I wasn't even sure these last two were real words - they are- but she uses this adverb form over and over. I actually wanted to go back and count how many times she used it.) Another instance of questionable usage was "D'you?" This was always used in dialogue, and I don't know if it was intended to be the recreation of a commonly used diction of the time. If it is not, it doesn't seem to fit in with the otherwise learned, courtly, formal speech used in every other case. In actual speech the pronunciation of "D'you" is probably much the same as "Do you." No where else is diction implied, so this contraction seems unnecessary and anachronistic.

At best the reading of this novel may inspire readers to become more informed about the Tudor period and the actual historical effects of the events in the book, which reduces the history to a mere backdrop for the unseemly behavior of a greedy and two-dimensional family. There are some excellent websites devoted to this period. You may find the portraits of the actual participants quite interesting as well.

Worse books have, of course, been written. For that reason only, perhaps this one deserves two stars - one and a half. Judging by sales, many people like Harlequin Romances. This book is probably a fair success on that level.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this book as anything other than a Harlequin Romance, complete with heaving bosoms, soap-opera dialogue, and predictable, static characters.

This pack is great. It has lots of room for all of my stuff. I am a history major, and that is saying a lot. Price seems a bit steep at first, but it has a lifetime warranty, but I am assuming that I will never need it. My last pack (not a JanSport product) ripped in about 3 weeks. I have had this one three months and it does not have a single stray thread. Buy with confidence.
